Travel Information

Dublin Airport:

Dublin Airport is situated ten miles north of the city centre, just off the M1 motorway (Dublin - Belfast). It is serviced by Taxis, Dublin Bus, and Aircoach. Car hire companies (Avis, Hertz) are also located at the airport. For more on Dublin Airport click link or visit  www.daa.ie . Dublin Airport is an international hub for direct flights to/from Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.Whether you are arriving at Terminal 1 (T1) or Terminal 2 (T2), bus, coach, and taxi areas are well signposted outside 'arrivals' in both terminals.

Getting to Trinity College:

Taxis: Taxis are available from the airport - they can be found at the Taxi rank outside the Arrivals Hall.
Be prepared to pay between €25-40 for a taxi to Trinity from the airport.  Taxis are readily available in the city centre 24hrs a day - there are many ranks located around the city, or you may flag one down on the street. If you are staying in a hotel, the concierge can arrange taxis for you during your stay.

Aircoach:
Aircoach is a really good (meaning comfortable, convenient, regular, and moderately priced) coach service to/from the airport. It services Dublin Airport, the City Centre, suburban Dublin and other cities such as Cork and Belfast. Typically, an Aircoach to/from the City Centre and the Airport leave every 20-30 mins. Fares to/from the Airport and the city centre start at €7 - see Aircoach Website for information and online bookings. This bus service is quite direct and takes less than 30 mins to the Airport traffic permitting.

Dublin Bus:
Buses to/from the airport are: Route 747 (known as the 747 Airlink) and Route 16A (regular bus route which terminates at Dublin Airport).

Route 16A:
The 16A bus is located at the bus terminus at Arrivals in Dublin Airport, will bring you directly to the city centre (O'Connell St, Trinity College (College Green stop)). Fares to/from the airport are no more than €2.50. Expect the journey to take at least 45 mins to 60 mins to/from the airport as this route services suburban Dublin en route to the City.

Route 747:
This bus connects Heuston Train Station with Dublin Airport. It also stops at Busaras, the city's central bus station. Fares start at €6; Return fare €10. This is a direct bus service to/from the Airport stopping at O'Connell Street. This route would best suit visitors making connections at the Train/Bus Stations in the city.
747 Bus Timetable

Dublin Bus is the most common mode of transport in the city. Many Bus Routes stop at College Green (outside or very close to Trinity College) - if you are staying in a suburban location, most bus routes will pass through or near the College Green area. Check the Bus Routes link above to check bus routes service College Green.

By Train and Tram:
The Dart train services the coastal area of Dublin County. If you are travelling by Dart, Pearse St station is located at the east end of the college.

The Luas tram service (green line - the city's southside tram) terminates in St. Stephen's Green - a 5 minute walk from Trinity located at the top of Grafton Street. The red line Luas services the north inner city. Alight from Abbey Street stop, cross O'Connell bridge and walk up Westmoreland Street towards the college (10 minute walk in total). See Luas Website for more information on tram timetables, fares and routes.

Please note that the Luas trams and Dart trains do not service Dublin Airport.

Car Hire
Car hire can be quite expensive in Dublin, particularly due to parking costs in the city: €3 per hour on the street/€4 per hour in a parking lot are standard rates. The college does not offer any parking facilities. If travelling by car, you may wish to enquire about parking at your hotel (some hotels offer discount car park prices for guests). Public city centre car parks are listed here: City Centre Car Parks
